Financial Crisis - Low Fertilizer Demand + Low Food Production = Food Crisis?

Mr. Thorlief Enger expressed that one good thing about the food crisis is that it raised awareness about the importance of agriculture, which had been taken for granted over the last 25 years. The potential to increase production in Africa is very important because they use 1/10 of the fertilizer being used in places like Asia.

The financial crisis has had a very important impact on the agricultural sector as we saw that at the end of 2008 the demand for fertilizer consumption went down drastically. This means, food production will go down and therfore, prices should go up as a result. We are probably at the beginning of a food crisis as a result of the financial crisis.

I think that the financil crises will never be solved with bailout policy in the different countries. in my opinion it like adding fuel to fire. there should be more objective control using financial managment tools. (The islamic finance concepts provids an excellent source of knowlage in this aspect)

then not only food but also all other economical sectors would start to refresh and bloom again!

somthing to consider?
